No smell, no nothing. I've thoroughly cleaned it twice. Once for the customer who didn't want to pick it up and once for me since I was going to bring it home. Customer was arguing about the price before they dropped it off, then just decided it wasn't worth it. Not an expensive rug, retails for about $450 but the wife likes it.
