Options for the Chosen Wand?

In my experience, there is a distinct improvement in drying times when using a two inch wand. I don’t think very many would challenge that. I’ve never tried using 2” hose coupled to an 1.5” wand, so I don’t know if it is an improvement or not. Back in the 90’s, the improvement was HUGE and worth the drawbacks because my old, underperforming TM’s were so inefficient; however, that’s not the case anymore. The difference today is no longer worth the physical punishment and property risks associated with using 2” hose. I’d be willing to speculate that a lifetime of using 2” hose and wands will take 10 years off of your cleaning career. If I could go back and begin my career over, I’d have sliders, lift buddy’s and a 1.5 chosen wand with a hole glide from the beginning.
I use to put a regular 1 1/2 hose cuff on my tool and put the 2 inch over it.

There's a difference in vacuum, adding more restriction like a whip hose you lose some air flow.

Not sure if it matters when you use fans or not.

You guys are something. I was crushing it with my weak portable for 18 months before I got my truckmount. Now I use a 25' whip hose to my 1.5" wand and I get great dry times. Set the customers expectations with dry times ranging from 4 to 8 hours, and they are happy, and so am I. I can only imagine how tough it is with a 2" vac hose going right to a wand... for what?

Being doing a 2” vac hose right to the wand for over 15 years

For both my 2”wand and 1.5”.

Have you ever experimented and compared the dry times with both setups at your house?

Run at 10 ft whip hose for a dozen projects and they'll never go back unless you micro obsess on the difference between 1 hour and 2-hour dry times which I guarantee your customers are not.

No I haven't. I believe you that the dry times are impressive moving to a 2" hose straight to the wand. But I have received over 100 five star Google Reviews in our 2 years of doing this. Our business keeps growing and building a great reputation, and my prices keep slowly going up. I want to make this work as easy as possible, there are enough inherently difficult aspects to what we do.

I just tell people stuff takes up to 8 hours to dry and they seem fine with it. A few of our customers hired a Chem Dry company for years before they went out of business and are obsessed with dry times, they always make it clear during our initial consultations. So we just pull out all the air movers and maybe wait an extra 15 minutes while stuff is drying for those guys, they're pretty rare.

If I lose a few because we don't get the most legendary dry times but otherwise offer a knockout service... then I'm ok with letting them go.

What's up with my streaks y'all? I turned my pressure down to 400. I tried offsetting my jets one way, then the other, no luck. Then made sure the jets were lined up perfect, no luck. I ended up just doing a third offset pass after my normal 2 passes on each stretch to eliminate it by streaking the unstreaked portion. There must be a better way...

Mike I confess, I just use your Chosen Wand as a backup now. The extra inch of coverage on my Evo 13" saves me a few thousand passes a year.

Does the evolution have a center pin in the vacuum slot?

I had the same problem with a mach12 wand. Couldn’t fix the problem so I just got rid of it

Um..

Check your math.

How much time are you wasting by not using a S bend that gets under furniture, how much time are you causing your customers to wait for the carpet to dry by using the Evo's poorly desgined vacuum manifold?

If you want to work quicker, there are much better wider wands.

Once Matt reaches the golden years, he’ll see the light. I got caught up in the Greenie/Mikey hype surrounding 2” wands and it took me awhile to get past all that.
Bane tried to make up for flow by having a 2 in on their heavy assed Jimmy Castex wand. So, the tube was 1 1/2 but took a 2" hose🙄 Engineering at its finest. I never could earn the Jimmy leprechaun
sticker😂

I use to get that with my portable, 2.5 for fiddy feet, 2 inch to a 2 inch wand.

3-4 hours with fans.

People come to expect it dry faster. when you dry it faster.

Thanks for the thoughts Mike. I am just using what's available, what I already own. I'm still in acquisition and establishment phase, so I am waiting to buy better wands. I'll keep all that in mind.

I hate the portable knockoff of the evolution wand. It came with my PEX. I don't use it!!!

I had no idea this isn't a real Evo 13". I'm on an island over here. And obviously not that sharp..
