White sofa

Does anyone know what causes this ? Very dark when wet - natural fiber. I did a test spot under a cushion and let it dry for an hour. It turned out fine and I cleaned the rest of the sofa.

It looks to Jacquard weave. The dark is the dark thread showing through the light thread when wet.

Linen turns dark and looks just like that when its wet.

When I was a kid and cleaned one of those fabrics, it scared me to death. Then it dried fine.

That linen that scared the heck out of me when I was 16? I have only seen one since.
